Ski Changbai

Changbai Mountain in Northeast China's Jilin Province is a heaven for skiers. There are over 10 ski slopes in Changbai area, including the most well-known Xiao Tianchi and Wenquan (thermal spring).

You can glide as quick as the lighting by yourself in the pine forest. If you are not a skier, a sled or snowmobile can take you into the mountain.

Be sure to wear warm boots, because the temperature in Changbai Mountain can reach 20 to 30 degrees centigrade below zero. The depth of the snowpack hits 1.5 metres.

You can rent equipment for 100 yuan ($12) on site. Ski clothes cost 30 yuan ($3.6) for a day. Four people can rent a snowmobile for 200 yuan ($24).

Fly from Shanghai to Yanji city and then take a long-distance bus to Changbai Mountain. The total cost is about 1,500 yuan ($180).
